The 2026 calendar at a glance

TITLIS Rotair and TITLIS Connect

The last lift to the summit normally goes by the Rotair, the first revolving cable car in the world. Its round cabin turns a full circle on the way up, so everyone gets the view. From 17 August to 11 December 2026 it is closed.

While it is shut, TITLIS Connect takes you up from Stand. It is a newer cable car that does not revolve, and it arrives at the same summit station. Your ticket and your fare do not change. The only thing you miss is the turning cabin.

The new summit station works

The old summit station is being replaced. The first new part, the TITLIS Tower, opened at the end of May 2026, with the TITLIS Horizon deck, a restaurant and a boutique. The building work goes on around it.

The works change the tours more than the mountain. From June 2026, Best of Switzerland Tours limit their summit visits to about an hour and take their groups down to Trübsee to eat. If you want more time, go on the cableway's own ticket or a day that plans two hours or more. The time each tour gives you is on the visitor guide.

Daily hours

From Engelberg, the cable cars run from 08:30 to 17:00. The last ride up leaves at 16:00, and the last ride down at 17:00. Get to the valley station by 15:30 if you are going on your own.

These hours run through the summer season. Before a December trip, check the cableway's winter timetable for your date.

Booking around the closures

None of the 2026 changes stops you reaching the summit. They change how long the journey takes and what you can do once you are up there. Match your plans to your date:

If you travel by train before 2 November, add the replacement bus to your day and leave Lucerne a little earlier. If the Ice Flyer matters to you, go up by 31 October, because its summer season ends that day. If you hoped to ride the revolving cabin, come after 11 December. Visiting the abbey in October? The tour still runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, but its exhibition room stays closed until the new show opens on 31 October.

On a guided day, the operator handles the lifts and the road for you. What you still choose is the date, and with free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead you can move it if a closure or the weather changes your plans. The weather for each month is on the weather page.

Seasonal activities

The summit is on a glacier, so the snow is there all year. What moves with the seasons is the snow play. In summer it is at the summit; in winter it moves down to Trübsee:

Schedule questions

Is the Rotair running in autumn 2026?
No. The TITLIS Rotair is closed from 17 August to 11 December 2026. TITLIS Connect, a cable car that does not revolve, carries you to the summit station instead.
What time is the last cable car down from Titlis?
The last ride down to Engelberg leaves at 17:00. The last one up leaves Engelberg at 16:00, so start by then.
When does the Ice Flyer run?
In the 2026 summer season, from 4 May to 31 October, it runs from 09:15 to 16:00. Last winter it ran from 09:30 to 16:00.
Is Titlis open in November?
Yes, the cable car to the summit runs, but some lifts close for their autumn service. The Älplerseil at Trübsee is shut from 1 to 30 November 2026.
