Alpenquai to Engelberg
You meet the coach at the Landenberg coach park on Alpenquai, by the lake in Lucerne, where your guide waits with a red Best of Switzerland Tours flag. The coach takes you to Engelberg, the village at the foot of the mountain, with your guide on board.

Up by Rotair, or by TITLIS Connect this autumn
From the valley station an eight-seat gondola takes you to Stand at 2,450 metres, and a large cabin crosses the glacier to the summit station at 3,020 metres. The whole ride takes about half an hour. Normally that last cabin is the Rotair, which turns a full circle on the way up so everyone gets the view. It is closed from 17 August to 11 December 2026 while the summit station is rebuilt, and TITLIS Connect, which does not turn, takes its place.
The rebuild shortens the day at the top as well. From June 2026 Best of Switzerland Tours limits summit visits to about an hour, before the group rides down to the Trübsee middle station, where the restaurants are.
On the glacier: Ice Flyer, Cliff Walk, cave
Use the hour in order. Take the Ice Flyer first: six-seat chairs over crevasses up to 20 metres deep to the Glacier Park, where the snow tubes run from May to August. From December to April the tubing moves down to Trübsee. Then walk the Cliff Walk, 100 metres of suspension bridge over a 500-metre drop, free with the fare.
The Glacier Cave sits 10 metres under the ice, reached by a lift from inside the station. In a hot summer it can close: in August 2026 guests on this tour found the ice chamber shut. Ask your guide on the coach whether it is open, and spend the time on the snow if it is not. The TITLIS Horizon deck in the new tower costs CHF 18 for an adult, paid on the spot.
Half day or full day?
Because every group's summit time is about an hour this year, the half day loses less than it used to against the full days. What a longer day buys you is Lucerne or more time up high. The Lucerne coach day with a driver-guide gives you about two and a half hours on Titlis for $178 a person, against $168 here, but the Ice Flyer is an option you pay for. The small-group day from Lucerne allows about three hours on the mountain and a guided hour in the Old Town, in a group of up to 15, for $456.

- Alpenquai, Lucerne. Find the guide with the red flag at the Landenberg coach park.
- Coach to Engelberg. Your guide travels with the group from Lucerne.
- Cable cars, about 30 minutes. Gondola to Stand, then TITLIS Connect to 3,020 metres until 11 December.
- The summit, about an hour. Ice Flyer, the Cliff Walk and the cave, weather permitting.
- Trübsee. Down to the middle station at about 1,800 metres, where the restaurants are.
- Back to Lucerne. The coach returns to Alpenquai in the late afternoon.

Book this if
You are staying in Lucerne, you want the glacier, the chairlift and the bridge with a guide who knows the way, and you would like the rest of the day for the city. It suits couples, friends and families with older children.

The red flag at Alpenquai
Meet at the Landenberg coach park on Alpenquai in Lucerne and wait on the pavement: your guide holds a red flag with "Best of Switzerland Tours" on it. The tour starts and ends at the same place.
Two guiding languages leave from here, so check that your voucher shows the one you booked, and read the confirmation for the start time. Hotel pickup is not part of this day.
Know before you go
- Bring a passport or ID card. Keep it with your voucher for the start.
- Dress for winter, even in July. Thermals, a warm jacket, gloves, a hat and shoes with a good tread.
- No food on the coach. Eat at Trübsee on the way down; food and drinks are extra.
- Expect TITLIS Connect. The revolving cabin is closed until 11 December 2026.
- The cave may be shut. Ask your guide before you queue for the lift.
- Not for wheelchair users. Pets stay home; assistance dogs are welcome.

How long do I get at the top?
About an hour at the summit in 2026, then time at the Trübsee middle station on the way down. Best of Switzerland Tours set the limit from June 2026 while the summit station is rebuilt.
Is the Ice Flyer included?
Yes, weather permitting. At the counter it costs CHF 12, and pass discounts do not apply to it.
I am based in Zurich. Is there a version for me?
Yes: the same operator runs a full day from Zurich with a stop in Lucerne, with the Ice Flyer in the fare as well. It takes about ten hours.
Can we go snow tubing?
From May to August the tubes run at the Glacier Park on the summit. From December to April they move to Trübsee, depending on the snow.
Is hotel pickup included?
No. You meet the coach at the Landenberg coach park on Alpenquai, by the lake in Lucerne.
What if I cancel?
You get a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the start. Inside those 24 hours the fare is not refunded.
