Nobody meets you and nobody counts the minutes: in 2026 it is the way to spend more than an hour at the summit.

Your own day on the glacier

The cableway's own ticket

This is the return from Engelberg to the summit station at 3,020 metres, sold by TITLIS Bergbahnen, the company that runs the cable cars. It includes the Cliff Walk, the Glacier Cave, the Glacier Park and the Ice Flyer. There is no coach, no group and no guide: you get yourself to Engelberg and ride up when you are ready.

Looking for a Mount Titlis day tour with no timetable but your own? This is it. While the summit station is rebuilt in 2026, the guided coach days keep about an hour at the top; with this ticket, the only limit is the last cable car.

What the ticket covers

The fare covers every section each way: the eight-seat gondola from the valley station to Stand at 2,450 metres, then the top cable car over the glacier. Until 11 December 2026 that is TITLIS Connect, because the revolving Rotair is closed for the rebuild. The whole ride up takes about half an hour.

At the top the ticket opens everything the cableway includes. The Cliff Walk is 100 metres of suspension bridge over a 500-metre drop. The Glacier Cave lies 10 metres under the surface, reached by a lift from inside the station, and a hot summer can close it, so check the board in the station. The Ice Flyer crosses crevasses up to 20 metres deep to the Glacier Park, where the snow tubes run.

Two things are not in it: food, and the TITLIS Horizon deck in the new tower, which costs CHF 18 for an adult.

This ticket or the counter?

At the valley station counter the summer return from Engelberg is CHF 102, and the Ice Flyer is CHF 12 on top; this ticket includes both. If you hold a Swiss Travel Pass or a Half Fare Card, the counter halves the return, though not the Ice Flyer, and a Lucerne Travel Pass covers the cable cars outright. Holders of any of the three do better at the counter; the fares and passes page sets out every discount.

Everyone else gets the chairlift in one booking and free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead, which matters on a mountain where the weather decides the day.

Getting to the valley station

Engelberg is at the end of the line from Lucerne. On a normal day the direct train takes 43 minutes; until 1 November 2026 part of the route runs by replacement bus, so check the timetable on how to get to Mount Titlis before you set off. From Engelberg station the free local bus runs to the valley stations, or you can walk. If you drive, parking at the valley station is about CHF 5 a day and not in the fare.

How a day on the ticket runs

1. The valley station counter. Swap your voucher for the ticket; at busy times there is a queue.
2. Gondola to Stand. The eight-seat cabins climb past Trübsee to 2,450 metres.
3. Up to 3,020 metres. TITLIS Connect until 11 December, about half an hour from the valley in all.
4. The glacier. Ice Flyer, Cliff Walk, the cave and the Glacier Park, at your own pace.
5. Trübsee on the way down. Walk round the lake or row on it in summer.
6. The last ride down. The cable car runs until 17:00; the last ride up leaves at 16:00.

What the fare covers and what it doesn't

The valley station in Engelberg

There is no meeting point and no guide. Go to the Titlis valley station in Engelberg and exchange your voucher for a ticket at the counter; the voucher is on your phone and needs no printing.

At busy times you queue at the same counter as everyone buying on the day, so arrive before you want to ride. The cable cars run from 08:30, and the last ride up leaves Engelberg at 16:00.

Know before you go

• There is no guide. The signs between the cable cars could be clearer, so ask staff at each change if you are unsure.
• Plan at least three hours. More if you stop at Trübsee on the way down.
• Go early. The last ride up is at 16:00, and the queue at the counter builds through the morning.
• Dress for winter. Warm clothing and closed shoes, whatever the month in the valley.
• Food is on you. Eat at the summit or at Trübsee; nothing is in the fare.
• Watch the weather. Wind can stop the top cable car, and cloud can hide the view.
